Dora’s Crufts Trophy

For the past year we have been looking after a fourth Heeler though unfortunately we shall have to say farewell to her this week; Dora’s Crufts Trophy for Lancashire Heeler Best Bitch will be returning to Crufts to be passed on to the next winner of the title.   Dora, Madincrowd Bathsheba JW, won the beautiful wooden trophy which was presented last year by Foxthyme in memory of Jackie Cartledge, who we all sadly miss, […]

FAB Agility Show

Today we attended our first proper FAB Agility Show at the Turnpike Showground in Motcombe.  Just took Dora for practice and to fathom out how an agility show works – quite a lot of waiting around for your turn but everyone is very friendly and helpful to “Newbies”!  Our trainer Tracy Ryan was there competing and pointed us in the right direction although in the excitement of running the course I completely lost my way […]

Couch to 5k with your dog

How to get fitter for agility – Couch to 5k with your dog! Dora and I have started a 9 week course of Couch to 5k with Poole Joggers.   Well, I have joined Poole Joggers and Dora accompanies us on the two practice runs in between! Dora in pastel!

I decided I would like a portrait of Dora in pastel for my birthday/Christmas present last year to go with the portraits we have of our other dogs.  I wanted an artist who could capture her look and after some research found a local Dorset artist, Mark Hankinson, who had done some amazing dog portraits. So, here is the finished portrait which has just gone off to be framed – we think it has caught […]

Dora is Best Bitch at Crufts 2018

On Thursday 8 March 2018 we got up at 3am to drive up the NEC, Birmingham for Crufts.  We took all three dogs as we were on the Discover Dogs stand all day but had entered Dora, Madincrowd Bathsheba JW,  into the Open Bitch Class which it turned out had the largest entry of 14 Heelers on the day. With strong competition, we made the cut and then Dora was placed first – an amazing […]

Corgi Wedding Cake Toppers

Wedding Cake fun!

Well our son James and Becky got married in September and I offered to make the cake – little knowing what I was letting myself in for!  However with help and advice from Heeler friends – and Dora of course who managed to lick the odd rose – we got there, complete with Corgi cake toppers made by Lynn. We even found a use for the Cricut machine and made Place Names for everyone, doggy […]

Wiltshire Game Fair – September 2017

We attended the Wiltshire Game Fair again which takes place in the beautiful grounds of Bowood House, Calne.  We have our own marquee within The World of Dogs area and enjoy meeting members of the public and chatting about Heelers all weekend!  We love to have other Heeler owners or dog lovers coming to help us and can offer unlimited teas and coffees, biscuits, cake, etc plus free entry and parking to the event.  It was a […]

Border Union Championship Dog Show – June 2017

On an extremely hot, sunny day we went to the Border Union Championship Dog Show at Kelso where we showed the dogs under judge Keith Baldwin.  We were thrilled to bits when Bilbo (Ch Rosepip Beau Brummell ShCM) won the Dog Challenge Certificate from the Veteran Dog class,  Dora (Madincrowd Bathsheba JW) got the Reserve Bitch Challenge Certificate from Limit Bitch and Pickle (Rosepip Neteret Eset) was 2nd in Open Bitch.   The judge was very informative […]

Dora does Bournemouth!

Dora, Madincrowd Bathsheba JW, was Best of Breed at the Bournemouth Champ Show in August 2016, under judge Celia Vines. There was a good turn out and a party atmosphere round the ring – with some of us coming back to Pear Tree Cottage for a cream tea!
